《中國佛寺志》此套書所收之佛寺志或為手抄本或為各國圖書館唯一藏本，是研究佛教史的重要史料。

簡介：

在中國佛教史料中，佛寺志是一種獨特而重要的文獻，它也是地方志或地方性歷史文獻之一。其主要內容在於：佛寺歷史沿革，建築、建設，高僧傳記、法語詩偈，法脈傳承，感應事跡等，亦有兼及佛寺所在地之地理、人文、風俗的記載，及地圖、建物圖、人像等。通常是由對區域、城市及寺院研究有興趣的學者所編寫，因此此類文獻乃收集各種文本編輯而成。本專案的研究目的，除將佛寺志的珍貴史料數位典藏，廣為流傳之外，並將進行相關佛寺志的書目研究和標記作業，使之成為研究中國佛教歷史不可或缺的數位文獻。

Digital Archive of Chinese Buddhist Temple Gazetteers

This is the website for the Temple Gazetteer Project at the Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts. The project is funded by the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies with a contribution from the Jing shan zhi.
The full-text for this project is provided through a cooperation between the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica, and the Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts.

Gazetteers or local histories are a distinct genre of Chinese historiography. Usually written by scholars interested in a region, city or temple, gazetteers are compilations of a variety of texts. They are treasure houses containing topographical descriptions, biographies, poems, maps, portraits, miracle stories and much more. The aim of the project is to tap into this wealth of information in order to deepen our understanding of Chinese Buddhist history.
在中國佛教發展史中，佛教歷經多次的興衰與各分支宗派的起落，期間所出現的高僧大德、於各地所建立的佛寺塔院與相關的佛教活動，可說是不可勝數。16世紀至20世紀間，產生了大量佛教寺廟史志型態的書籍，也就是一般通稱的佛寺志。修志者有寺僧、名儒居士，也有官方所修，其內容大致包含：山圖、寺院沿革、地理山水、古蹟、建置、僧傳、法語、寺產經濟、規約、藝文等。而這些寺志文獻是研究晚期中國佛教發展的重要參考資料。本專案的設置目的，主要是將佛寺志的珍貴典籍進行高品質之全文數位化，藉由數位媒體的便利性，能廣泛為世人所知與利用，並達到永久典藏之目標。

Between 2007 and 2010, 237 gazetteers were digitized and are distributed on this website. Of these 13 gazetteers were digitized as full-text archives and marked up with TEI/XML, identifying all person and place names as well as dates. A print edition of these enhanced versions is under preparation and is scheduled to appear in 2013.
2007至2018期間，完成了237部寺志內容的影像掃描和全文數字化，並採用TEI（Text Encoding Initiative）標準的XML（eXtensible Markup Language）語言，針對文章進行標記，用以表達文字之外的其他重要訊息。其中13志，已於2013年以新編的橫排版紙本印刷問世。

The gazetteers collected in the project stem mainly from two twentieth-century compilations of woodblock reprints:
地方志的收藏主要由2個20世紀木刻版的編輯叢書組成:

• Zhongguo Fosi Shizhi Huikan 中國佛寺史志彙刊. Taipei, 1980-1994. Compiled by Du Jiexiang 杜潔祥. (ZFSH) 110 vols.(書目)
• Zhongguo fosizhi congkan 中国佛寺志丛刊. Yangzhou: Guangling shushe 广陵书社 2006 . Compiled by Zhang Zhi et al. 白化文、张智主編. (ZFC) 130 vols.(書目)

The data on names and dates in the full-text gazetteers, together with that from other projects, is aggregated in our authority databases (http://authority.dila.edu.tw).
在本專案中所識別的人物、時間與地點之資料，將與其他專案的相同資料一併整合至本校「佛學規範資料庫Buddhist Authority Database」(http://authority.dila.edu.tw/)。

Each gazetteer is available in a downloadable archive file intended for use by digital librarians and archivists. The archive files contain good quality digital facsimiles of the source text, as JPEG files. For gazetteers of which the full text is available, the archives also contain the marked up text in TEI format, and a copy of the TEI schema which has been created specifically for this project. All archives contain full metadata conforming to the METS metadata wrapper standard, including MIX metadata for digital images.
